Structure of Saurashtra Premier League
The Saurashtra Premier League follows a standard round-robin format, where each of the five teams competes against all the others in the tournament. This leads up to the highly anticipated final match. In this format, every team participates in four matches, facing each opponent once.
At the end of the group stage, the two teams with the highest points secure their spots in the finals, battling it out for the championship title.

History of Saurashtra Premier League
The Saurashtra Premier League (SPL) debuted in May 2019, featuring a total of five teams: Halar Heroes, Zalawad Royals, Gohilwad Gladiators, Kutch Warriors, and Sorath Lions. The tournament adopted a round-robin format, and after the league stage, the top two teams secured their places in the much-awaited final. In an exciting showdown, Sorath Lions emerged victorious in the final, edging out Zalawad Royals by a mere 5 runs.
The SPL returned for its second season in May 2022, maintaining the same lineup of teams from the previous year. Once again, the teams battled fiercely in the league stage to claim the top spots. Eventually, Halar Heroes triumphed in the final, securing a convincing victory over Gohilwad Gladiators with a notable margin of 40 runs.
Both seasons of the SPL showcased thrilling cricketing action, drawing considerable attention and support from fans. All matches of this tournament were held at the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) Stadium in Rajkot.

Saurashtra Premier League Teams
Halar Heroes
The Halar Heroes, reigning champions, were unable to defend their title due to the cancellation of the 2023 season. In the 2022 season, they dominated with 8 points, emerging as the top team in the league. They were captained by Arpit Vasavada. Jaydev Unadkat from the Halar Heroes recorded the best bowling figures in the SPL, securing an impressive 5 for 9 during the 2022 season.
Meanwhile, Sonu Batham, also part of the Halar Heroes, exhibited outstanding performance with the bat, boasting the highest strike rate of 200.00 in two innings during the same season. On the other hand, Snell Patel showcased his consistent form by hitting one fifty, scoring a total of 108 runs, and striking 16 fours, placing him third on the list of players with the most fifties in the 2022 season.
Sorath Lions
In the inaugural season of 2019, the Sorath Lions claimed the title of champions. Despite finishing second in the group stage with three victories, they displayed remarkable tenacity in the final, securing a thrilling victory against the Zalawad Royals with a slender margin of just five runs. They were captained by Chirag Jani.
However, their 2022 campaign proved to be a disappointment, as they managed only one win throughout the entire season. Despite the team’s struggles, Tarang Grohel emerged as a shining star, standing out as the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament with a total of 154 runs in four innings and an impressive strike rate of 126.23.
Gohilwad Gladiators
In the 2022 season, they secured the runners-up position, succumbing to a defeat against Halar Heroes by 40 runs in the final match. Led by their captain, Prerak Mankad, he emerged as the top run-scorer of the entire competition, amassing a total of 155 runs in four matches, with a strike rate of 149.04. Notably, Prerak’s aggressive batting style saw him hitting a total of 7 sixes and 11 fours during the season, underscoring his crucial role in his team’s success.
Zalawad Royals
In the inaugural season, they achieved the runners-up position, narrowly missing out on the title as they suffered a close defeat against Sorath Lions by a mere five runs in the final match. However, their 2022 campaign fared slightly worse, resulting in a third-place finish in the standings with two wins throughout the season. Their captain, Sheldon Jackson, emerged as a standout performer during the 2022 season, recording the most fifties in the tournament with two fifties in four innings.
Kutch Warriors
The Kutch Warriors have experienced a lack of success in the two seasons, failing to reach the semi-finals on both occasions. In the 2022 season, they found themselves at the bottom of the standings with only one victory to their name. However, their inaugural season was better as they secured a third-place finish with two wins.
Dharmendra Jadeja, the team’s captain, proved to be a shining light in the 2022 season. He emerged as the second-highest wicket-taker, claiming nine wickets in five innings at an impressive economy rate of 5.80.
